About us
VI, VII is a fjordside gallery of contemporary art in central Oslo. Founded in an underground space beneath a church hall in 2012 the gallery serves as a conduit between the Norwegian and international art scenes, presenting the work of a wide-ranging and multinational group of young and emerging artists in Norway, and introducing practices by exceptional Norwegian artists abroad.
Working closely with each artist, the gallery focuses on new productions, presenting the first solo exhibitions in Scandinavia by artists such as New York based artists Eva LeWitt, Rob Kulisek and Eliza Douglas. Extending its activities to mediums such as music publishing, as in its collaboration with Dial records, the gallery also participates in several international art fairs a year.
Since 2021 the gallery has been located in Bjørvika, a neighborhood designed by Danish architects Vannkunsten on newly reclaimed land. Located just steps from Oslo’s waterfront, in an area dubbed "Lille Venezia (Little Venice) it counts amongst its neighbors the Munch Museum and city’s famed Snøhetta designed Opera House.
